Helping Foster Kids Transition into Independent Living Programs
by Providing Life's Necessities
and a Whole Lot More

"I cannot begin to tell you how this  program is  helping to motivate kids who are 17, getting ready to age out and want to do well.  It has been amazing to see the trickle down effect.  These kids really do want to make a positive impression on the world, you are giving them a chance to do so!  Thanks!"  - Cynthia Grazioso, HomeSafe

Do you remember your 18th birthday? The excitement of a later curfew, more unrestricted use of the car, maybe a larger allowance? Wasn’t that a wonderful time?

Now imagine that you are in foster care. Your thoughts are a little bit different. Where will I live, how will I get to school, what will I cook for dinner? When you turn 18 in the foster care system, you are required to leave the group home whether you have finished high school or not. Pretty scary for a young adult of limited means.

Two years ago we began sponsoring a group home for boys in West Palm Beach. We see to it that each boy gets a special birthday with presents from his wish list. This has been very rewarding and the boys are grateful. Last year we had a student “age out” and for his birthday we  provided for his new independent life in an apartment. The state requires that everything be purchased new and thru the generosity of our friends and supporters we provided all the items on a basic list. The grand total was $2150. This was the beginning of our Project Set for Success.  In 2018 we were able to make sure that five foster care boys were "Set for Success" as they aged out of the foster care system.

Another boy (young man) will be aging out this year and we would like to offer you the chance to make a huge difference in his life. The feelings that arise from getting a young adult off to a good start cannot be described and are wonderful to experience. Below is the basic list that we have compiled and that we are using as our blueprint. We would hope that you would select an item from this list or send a monetary donation to Kindness Shared marked Set for Success. Please consider joining us. You won’t regret it.
