Providing Security
Thru Blankets Kindness Shared Happiness Squared is honored to collaborate with Project Linus. As Kathy would say we look forward to providing “warm hugs through handmade blankets”. Can you imagine right now there are children ages from infants to teenagers in hospitals and in police departments who may be ill, terrified, in a dangerous situation beyond their control. They are in need of many things and comfort and security are right there on the top. What could bring a child like this comfort? Something they can hold on to, something soft, something they can cuddle. Something such as a homemade blanket. It has always been the mission of Project Linus to donate only handmade blankets. They receive thousands of letters and thank you notes every year from children. Over and over they express how touched they are that a stranger would take the time to make something for them. They really know the difference. Purchased blankets are nice, but handmade blankets are from the heart. Kathy Adams, Chapter coordinator of Palm Beach Project Linus explains to us that many of these children have nothing of their own. So the first question a child asks when given a blanket is “is this for me?” and the next question they ask is “really, I can keep it?” |
